2025 - 2026 PTA BOARD NOMINATION ANNOUNCEMENT

Adelante’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) consists of active parents and teachers. PTA raises funds and organizes events to ensure that important resources (books) and experiences (field trips, festivals) are available at our school. Leaders typically volunteer 5 to 10 hours a month, although you can volunteer more if you want.

 

Adelante’s PTA BOARD ELECTION will be held on Thursday, March 20th and the Adelante PTA is currently looking for PTA officers. Please consider nominating yourself, or another person for one of the following positions: President, Executive Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, and Financial Secretary. The positions are for July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.

 

How to nominate:

  • Consider the responsibilities and skills needed for each position (see below)
  • Make sure your PTA membership is active or check if the nominee is a PTA member
  • Fill out the form online or contact Chrystine Villareal (adelantesj@gmail.com) to fill out the form over the phone or in-person
  • The Nominating Committee will follow-up!

time commitment:

Monthly Executive Meeting

Bi-Monthly General Meetings

5-10+ volunteers hours/month

 

KEY DATES:

*According to the by-laws, nominations are also accepted up to the day of the election, but the Committee must submit its report to the current PTA Membership 28 days before the election.

 

If you are a team player, looking to make a difference, or would like to build some project management skills, the PTA needs new and experienced parents! Consider becoming a part of the Adelante PTA, sharing your skills and leadership, and supporting our amazing kids!

PTA BOARD POSITIONS: ResponsibilITIES + SKILLS

President

-Oversees and coordinates the work of an executive board to run the PTA effectively

-Presides at PTA board and association meetings

-Serves as the official contact, communicator and representative of the PTA

-Designated as an authorized signer for PTA checks, contracts and authorizations for payment

-Serves as ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating committee

-Works with other PTA leaders to connect families, school and community to support student success

-Key requirements include organization and planning, communication and writing, computer skills are required

 

Executive PRESIDENT

-Works as the primary aide to the president

-Helps lead a PTA towards specific goals consistent with PTA purposes and policies

-Performs president’s duties in his or her absence

-Carries out other duties outlined in unit bylaws and standing rules, or as assigned

-Key skills include ability to serve on at least one PTA committee, computer skills are required

 

Secretary

-Co-signs formal papers with president: authorizations for payment, resolutions and formal letters

-Handles PTA correspondence as directed by the president

-Maintains and preserves PTA records and important documents to pass on at the end of the term

-Key skills include ability to schedule meetings and take minutes online or in-person, computer skills are required

 

 

Treasurer

-Maintains permanent records to track unit funds and financial transactions

-Chairs budget committee and prepares annual budget for adoption by the association

-Pays all PTA bills as authorized by board or association

-Prepares reports for every board and association meeting and an annual financial report

-Ensures taxes and reports required by PTA bylaws, insurance or federal and state governments are completed and submitted by the due dates

-Key skills include ability to manage online accounting system to generate monthly reports, keep organized records

 

financial SECRETARY

-Works closely with the treasurer and other financial officers in handling PTA funds

-Keeps a record of all PTA funds collected, deposited and disbursed

-Prepares monthly and annual financial reports
